Full Stack Developer

UtrechtHybridHours negotiable<3months

A technology company is looking for a Full-Stack Developer who is energized by building scalable, user-friendly, and high-quality digital learning solutions. We are looking for someone with a startup mentality and a true can-do attitude. Someone who embraces innovation, actively contributes ideas, takes on challenges, assumes ownership, and goes all in. A team player who brings out the best in themselves and the team.

In this role, you will work closely with educationalists, designers, software engineers, and project managers. You will develop new features for desktop and mobile and play a key role in the continuous development of a Learning Management System (LMS). You will ensure a robust front-end based on sleek UX designs and deliver robust back-end functionality.

Additionally, you will be the guardian of the platform's daily stability: you will dive into the code, structurally resolve bugs, and, together with the team, build a platform that is intuitive, stable, and future-proof.

What you do

  • Full-stack development: You build modern, scalable interfaces with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vue.js, TypeScript, and Vite based on reusable components. On the back-end, you develop and maintain functionality in PHP and MySQL.
  • Smart programming with AI: You use VS Code and GitHub Copilot (Agent Mode) as a smart assistant, not as a blind pilot. You consciously choose which model to use, provide the right context, critically assess the output, and adjust where necessary.
  • Ownership & Quality: You set up and improve automated tests (unit and E2E) with PHPUnit, Vitest, and Playwright. You monitor code quality through code reviews, refactoring, and attention to performance and accessibility (WCAG).
  • Structured bug fixing: In case of incidents or support questions, you address the root cause, not the symptom. You reproduce the problem, solve it, and prevent recurrence by directly adding regression tests.
  • Support & Knowledge Sharing: You translate technical problems into understandable language for clients and colleagues and document solutions, so the entire team becomes increasingly self-reliant.
  • Platform monitoring: Especially around releases, you keep a close eye on things and act quickly in case of disruptions.

What they ask

  • The right mindset: A startup mentality. You are proactive, show ownership, do not shy away from complex challenges, and go the extra mile for the best result.
  • Solid technical foundation: Demonstrable work experience with front-end (Vue.js, TypeScript, Vite, HTML/CSS) and back-end (PHP and MySQL).
  • AI-awareness: You have experience with AI-assisted programming (GitHub Copilot) and know exactly when to use AI and when your own technical judgment is indispensable.
  • Eye for design & UX: You have experience with component-based development, design systems, and responsive design. You actively contribute to the ultimate user experience.
  • Quality focus: You write clean, maintainable code and have experience setting up unit tests and E2E tests (e.g., via Docker and Playwright).
  • Analytical skills: You are a detective when it comes to bugs, read logs accurately, and quickly find your way in other people's code.
  • Agile team player: You communicate clearly in short, iterative sprints and have a service-oriented attitude towards colleagues and clients.

Desirable.

  • Experience with DevOps tooling, Docker, Ubuntu, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Practical

  • For this position, providing a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a strict requirement, due to applicable legislation and certifications within our projects.
