Clinical Psychologist
A specialized multidisciplinary center for hearing and balance problems is looking for a clinical psychologist to strengthen its team. The collaboration can consist of one or more fixed days per week and can be further expanded based on patient intake and the development of one's own practice. The center investigates and guides adults and children with, among other things, hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, and balance problems.
Psychological guidance is structurally integrated within multidisciplinary care pathways. The approach is personal, patient-oriented, and scientifically substantiated. Close collaboration is maintained with audiologists and an ENT doctor specialized in otoneurology.
What you will do. As a clinical psychologist, you will build your own practice within the center.
- Guide patients with various psychological questions, including outside the domain of tinnitus and balance disorders.
- Take an active role in multidisciplinary guidance pathways for patients with chronic tinnitus and chronic dizziness complaints, including Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD).
- Guide patients individually and help them gain more insight and control over their complaints.
- Work on psychoeducation about the interaction between physical complaints, thoughts, emotions, and behavior.
- Apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
- Help patients cope with anxiety, stress, and increased vigilance.
- Reduce avoidance behavior and rebuild daily activities.
- Promote acceptance and improvement of quality of life.
- Coordinate guidance with other involved healthcare providers within the pathway, respecting professional secrecy and professional responsibility.

- Bring your own focus areas to the psychological practice.
- Further develop expertise in tinnitus, chronic dizziness, and psychosomatic complaints.

What they ask
- Master's degree in clinical psychology.
- Required recognition and registration to work as a clinical psychologist in Belgium.
- Self-employed status or willingness to start one.
- Interest in chronic dizziness, tinnitus, and the connection between physical and psychological complaints.
- Good communication skills and a patient-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to build your own practice independently and actively collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Affinity with chronic conditions, psychosomatics, anxiety problems, cognitive behavioral therapy, ACT, or pain rehabilitation is a plus.
- Experience with tinnitus, vestibular disorders, or PPPD is not required.
