As a Project Manager, you will have ultimate responsibility for the entire CAPEX project portfolio of an organization in Belgium. You will translate complex logistical, technical, and strategic requirements into concrete project results. You will act as the client, start projects 'from a blank slate', and ensure that all projects are realized on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable safety and quality requirements.
What you do
- Manage and budget the entire CAPEX project portfolio, meticulously monitoring and adjusting budget, planning, and scope in a timely manner.
- Collaborate, lead, coach, and develop the project engineering team and maintain smooth relationships with various stakeholders, from business leaders and authorities to skilled workers on the shop floor.
- Translate client-specific needs into creative logistical and technical concepts for, among other things, tank farms, energy projects, and filling installations.
- Develop in-house engineering concepts into execution plans and draw up technically and economically feasible specifications.
- Negotiate diplomatically and tactically with contractors and suppliers to ensure pragmatic and cost-efficient solutions.
- Oversee compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements, including monitoring risks, compliance, and permit obligations on site.
- Deliver and validate installations, prepare well-founded business cases, realize the as-built dossier, and ensure a streamlined handover to Operations and Maintenance.
- Report directly to the plant manager and collaborate closely and pragmatically with peers in, among others, the maintenance and operations departments.
Profile
- Master's degree in a technical field (or equivalent by experience).
- Minimum of 7 years of project management experience within the industry or (petro)chemistry.
- Hands-on expertise with CAPEX projects, in-house engineering (from scratch), and multidisciplinary management and collaboration.
- Knowledge of Seveso, ADR, and technical standards (or willingness to learn them).
- Fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus.
- Physically fit for field inspections.
