Debt Assistance Manager

A government organization works daily towards a strong and resilient city where everyone can participate. It is committed to residents who need (temporary) support in the areas of work, income, care, or debt.
- Within the domain, there is intensive collaboration with social organizations, care providers, and chain partners to help residents as effectively as possible.
- The implementation teams are responsible for trajectories ranging from guidance to work to debt assistance, youth care, and income support. The focus is on the resident's entire living situation.
- Integrated working, learning, and continuous improvement are important pillars.
- You will work within a dynamic implementation team of approximately 25 FTE where dedicated professionals collaborate to give residents perspective on a debt-free future.
- The team's activities include prevention, early detection, debt assistance, and various target groups. Part of the process is carried out by back-office colleagues.
What you will do.
- Guide and support residents with financial and/or multi-problem issues towards sustainable financial stability and self-reliance.
- Offer tailor-made debt assistance trajectories, supporting residents in stabilizing their financial situation, arranging debt settlements, and realizing sustainable solutions.
- Execute the complete debt assistance process: from intake and stabilization to settlement and aftercare.
- Draw up action plans.
- Maintain intensive contact with creditors, administrators, and chain partners.
- Monitor progress and compliance with agreements.
- Conduct (telephone) intake interviews.
- Independently set up and execute debt settlements (amicable and legal).
- Calculate and substantiate VTLBs (disposable income) in accordance with Recofa guidelines.
- Provide aftercare following debt settlement.
- Collaborate integrally with internal and external partners within the social domain.
- Deliver meticulous reports and file construction according to quality guidelines.

What they ask
- Minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience as a debt counselor within a municipal organization.
- Demonstrable work experience with conducting intake interviews, setting up debt settlements, and performing VTLB calculations.
- Agreement with the stated secondment conditions.
Preferences.
- Demonstrable completed education at a minimum of HBO bachelor level.
- Minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience in the past 6 years within the Social Domain at a large government organization (100,000+ inhabitants).
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrable work experience in the past 8 years as a debt counselor.
- Available no later than October 15, 2026, for a minimum of 32 hours.
- A short, concise, and personally written cover letter.
