Foster Care Counselor

• You guide children and young people who live (temporarily) or will live in a foster family, as well as the parents and the foster family.
• You do this through home visits, guidance interviews, and other contacts with the foster child, foster family, and parents.
• You support foster parents in their upbringing role.
• You collaborate with or engage other aid and care providers when necessary.
• You also support and advise colleagues based on your expertise.
• You discuss assigned cases in an open and constructive manner and act on the feedback you receive.
• You are also responsible for accurate reporting and administrative follow-up of these cases.

• Good knowledge of Integrated Youth Care, Special Youth Assistance and/or VAPH, and the social map of the region.
• Familiar with aid frameworks, methodologies, and insights relevant to working with families and their members.
• Affinity with other cultures and languages.
• Possesses a good dose of common sense, humor, and self-reflection.
• Willingness to work occasionally evenings and Saturdays.

What they ask

• Minimum a short-type higher education diploma in a human sciences field.
• A B driving license and a personal car (or access to shared vehicles).
• Preferably relevant work experience in the social sector (working with children and families is a plus).
