As a Special Enforcement Officer (BOA), you play a major role in addressing disruptive youth groups. You are specially trained to interact with young people, recognize group dynamics, and act appropriately. Building and maintaining a good relationship with young people is an important part of your work. No evening is the same; you work according to a schedule with regular evening and weekend shifts, as well as intermediate shifts focused on nuisance around schools and shopping centers.
What you do
- Determine the necessary approach for undesirable behavior by young people.
- Engage in discussions with young people and involve parents where necessary.
- Investigate the cause of behavior and refer to partners such as Halt or Veilig Thuis.
- Take sanctioning action where necessary.
- Map disruptive groups and locations.
- Actively build and maintain a relationship with young people.
- Participate in preventive youth consultations (PJO) and collaborate with various care and safety partners (youth workers, youth team, Halt, police).
- Serve as the fixed point of contact for preventive youth consultations, together with one colleague.
- Advise on suitable group approaches.
- Act as a BOA appropriately in integral issues such as traffic problems and illegal dumping.
- Provide first aid and assist aid organizations during emergencies.

- Strong communication skills and a positive approach to young people.
- Good listening skills, showing understanding, and building lasting relationships.
- Ability to set clear boundaries and respond well to different youth and group dynamics.
- Effective conflict management in situations of resistance, challenging behavior, or intense conflict.
- Remain calm, set boundaries, and know when to escalate in cases of serious nuisance, violence, substance abuse, or criminal behavior.
- Good judgment and making conscious, balanced decisions about how to act.
- Work with integrity and handle information carefully.
