An institution for Forensic Mental Healthcare in the East of the Netherlands works with patients on their issues through treatment, guidance, resocialization activities, and day care. The safety of society is paramount, based on a vision of recovery-oriented care. The multidisciplinary treatment team collaborates with patients and their relatives.
The team consists of (forensic) agogues and nurses, nursing specialists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, peer support specialists, secretaries, care support staff, and a team leader. Close cooperation takes place with other care institutions, probation services, and society.
What you will do. As a nurse, you will coordinate patient care. You will be responsible for drafting and implementing (parts of) the treatment plan. You will work irregular shifts, including early, late, nights, and a fixed weekend schedule.
- Specific attention to and affinity with medical-pharmacological care for patients.
- Ensure somatic screening for patients.
- Attention to somatic co-morbidity in patients; observe, report, and execute the resulting care.
- Administer medication intramuscularly, intracutaneously, and subcutaneously, and potentially flu vaccinations.
- Contribute to the implementation of nursing developments in the team in collaboration with a nursing specialist and psychiatrist.
Profile
- Completed MBO or HBO degree in Nursing.
- Experience in regular mental healthcare, addiction care, or forensic care.
- Strong communication skills, customer-oriented, development-oriented, and professional.
- Qualities to coach patients in skill acquisition, both at group and individual levels.
- Preferably, knowledge of aggression management.
- Digitally skilled or willing to train in this area.
