What you do
As an urban economist, you will work from the project management office of a public organization on diverse assignments for municipalities. You handle advisory questions and participate in project teams. Sometimes you work briefly on a specific business case, sometimes you are involved in area development for a longer period. You advise on the financial feasibility of housing projects and manage economic viability.
You calculate scenarios, identify risks, and translate complex analyses into clear advice for project teams and administrators. You collaborate closely with municipalities, organizational colleagues, and market parties.
Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing and testing land development plans and business cases
- Advising on cost recovery, land policy, and financial risks
- Calculating spatial scenarios and investment variants
- Supporting negotiations with developers and authorities
- Identifying opportunities and risks within projects

What they ask
- A completed HBO or WO education, for example in urban planning, geography, real estate studies
- Minimum of 3 to 6 years of experience as an urban economist
- Experience with land development and area development
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as BBV and the Environmental Act
- Good written and oral communication skills
Practical
- A temporary contract of one year with an option for extension
- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required
