A growing organization starts more projects than it finishes. As a project manager, you are responsible for successfully completing both ongoing and new projects. You determine when a project is truly finished, namely when a working process is in place and a colleague takes ownership of it. After that, you close it and move on to the next project. The size of the project does not matter; from a country rollout with VAT and customs puzzles to a process that has been half-working for years.
What you do
Your projects cut across the organization and affect various departments such as logistics, HR, finance, and IT. You adapt flexibly. Examples of projects:
- Internationalization: getting new countries live, including outside the EU, with VAT and customs rules. Establishing a correct shipping strategy per country.
- Warehouse automation: a significant automation project combining technology, construction, and logistics, including building modifications.
- Relocation: from initial preparation to operational status, including architectural planning.
- Content and product data: optimizing the chain from PIM via feeds to webshops. Making agreements and ensuring ownership for each link.
- Knowledge documentation: capturing and assigning implicit working methods, so that the intention of processes is clear.
Profile
- You have a mandate across departments and address MT members on their deliverables.
- You work in an organization where not everything is yet structured and contribute to its setup.
- Your results are lasting; every completed project leaves something sustainable behind.
- The role is new, and you get the opportunity to help shape it.
- You get restless from half-finished projects and gain energy from completing them.
- You provide counterweight to MT members and suppliers, and push through when things get stuck.
- You tackle both large and small processes with the same energy.
What they ask
- Minimum of five years of experience independently leading multiple projects from start to finish.
- Experience on the client side, not just on the supplier or agency side.
- Knowledge of organizations of comparable size where not everything is yet structured.
- Demonstrable ability to describe and transfer processes.
- Effortlessly switch between Dutch and English.
Desired.
- Experience with e-commerce or retail logistics.
- Experience with international rollout of webshops.
- Experience with warehouse and real estate projects.
