Aggression or violence against public servants is a persistent issue. As a casemanager, you play a crucial role in countering this by representing the interests of the aggrieved public servant in criminal cases.
What you do
- Independently handle the claim of the injured party of the public servant in the criminal case against the suspect, in accordance with relevant protocols
- Maintain contact with the public servant involved and prepare their claim as an injured party
- Attend criminal hearings, explain the claim, and provide legal defense
- Guide colleagues to hearings and provide feedback on the criminal case
- Act as a network partner and maintain contact with the Public Prosecution Service, personal injury lawyers, and internal stakeholders
- Manage dossiers until the criminal case is irrevocable and compensation has been paid
- Monitor and administratively process incidents in a national registration system
- Potentially hold the perpetrator civilly liable if the claim of the injured party is (partially) declared inadmissible during the criminal case
- Advise the competent authority on the joinder procedure and give presentations on this
- Monitor deadlines in the settlement of the criminal case
- Ensure awareness of the supporting role of the casemanager within the organization
- Identify bottlenecks in the process and fulfill a mediating role
Profile
- High degree of independence, empathy, and a flexible attitude
- Eager to take initiative and possesses strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Analytical ability and advisory skills to convince others
- Customer-oriented collaboration with colleagues and internal and external partners
- Stays up-to-date with professional developments and relevant legal knowledge and applies it
- Willingness to follow job-specific training
What they ask
- HBO bachelor working and thinking level or equivalent
- Preferably a background in law
- Some knowledge of or affinity with handling joinder cases
- Some knowledge of or affinity with criminal law, civil law, and public servant law
Practical
- Support based on the principle of time and place-independent working
- Extensive development opportunities
- A temporary appointment for a probationary period of one year, with the prospect of a permanent appointment
- A gross monthly salary in accordance with scale 9 of the relevant collective labor agreement
- An Individual Choice Budget (IKB) consisting of a gross part (17.86% of salary) and a net part (€ 515.91 per year)
