We work for municipalities and the province in the region. On their behalf, we issue permits, supervise, enforce, advise, and share knowledge in the field of environment. In practice, this means that around permit issuance, we also have all kinds of specialists in the fields of external safety, spatial planning, air quality, noise, light, energy, waste, asbestos, ecology, archaeology, and soil. We want to be an environmental agency with courage and decisiveness.
Wat je doet
You will work within the environmental permit issuance team. In this role, you will work on environment-related permit applications, notifications, and advice. Within the team, we want to focus more on the major environmental challenges of today and the future. We invest in expertise and knowledge on increasingly urgent themes such as circular economy, SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern), and water quality. Your activities include:
- Assessing and coordinating complex applications for environmental permits
- Testing against relevant laws and regulations, such as the Bal, the Omgevingswet, Wet Milieubeheer, BBT/BREF’s
- Representing the organization in national working groups and actively contributing to national policy development
- Conducting preliminary consultations with companies, involving relevant stakeholders such as municipalities, water boards, and safety regions
- Providing a guiding contribution to integrated projects
- Being a sparring partner for senior colleagues
- Implementing changes in laws and regulations in daily work and guiding colleagues in this process
In this role as a permit officer, the emphasis is on the most complex permit applications. You have a very large scope for interpretation, contribute to process improvement, and help shape the environmental agency of the future.
Wat ze vragen
You have extensive experience in handling complex permit applications and can switch between technical content, legal considerations, and strategic advice. You possess strong analytical skills, communicate convincingly, and move easily in politically sensitive environments. In addition, you show initiative, identify opportunities for improvement, and actively contribute to quality development and craftsmanship within the team. You bring at least:
- A higher professional education (hbo) or university (wo) degree, preferably in an environment-related field
- A minimum of 7 years of experience with complex environmental dossiers and/or permit issuance and advice
- A broad and current view on laws and regulations
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to coach and guide colleagues
