IT Project Leader

Contribute to a healthy and safe Netherlands by leading IT projects for socially relevant themes such as safety and environment, infectious disease research, and vaccination programs. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the further development of a new department.

What you will do. As an IT Project Leader, you will be responsible for the successful execution and completion of projects within the IT department for various internal and external clients of a government organization.

  • Lead projects in the fields of safety and environment, including digital calculation tools for nitrogen issues.
  • Manage projects for vaccination and prevention, such as information management for disease outbreaks.
  • Work on platforms for citizens and professionals, as well as systems for modeling disease spread.
  • Contribute to the multi-year objectives of colleagues dedicated to a healthy, safe, and sustainable Netherlands.
  • Potentially be involved in the relocation of IT facilities to a new site.
  • Work on multiple complex projects simultaneously, applying agile or waterfall methodologies.
  • Identify bottlenecks and liaise with departments and clients to find solutions.
  • Lead projects, including process, time, budget, and quality, according to project management methodologies such as PMC.
  • Maintain an overview and monitor progress in coordination with the organization and the client.
  • Guide implementations in collaboration with the 'business' for embedding and commissioning realized solutions.
  • Contribute to the further development of the project management field within the department.

Profile

  • Clear communication and the ability to engage colleagues and clients.
  • Proficient in making complex subject matter understandable.
  • Systems thinker capable of working across departmental boundaries.
  • Flexible and interpersonally sensitive, with a healthy dose of energy and decisiveness.
  • Ability to independently lead projects in a political and administrative context.
  • Good command of the Dutch language, both written and spoken, for stakeholder contact.

What they ask

  • Completed HBO or WO education.
  • Certification in a project management methodology (e.g., PRINCE2 or Projectmatig Creëren).
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrable experience in IT projects.
  • Experience with agile and Scrum working methods (certifications are a plus, experience is more important).

Practical

You will work in a project and delivery management department with over 20 colleagues, who work on software development, IT infrastructure projects, application migrations, and data projects. The IT organization also provides services to other government agencies and faces a major transformation challenge.
