An organization is looking for an enthusiastic professional to strengthen an expert team for an assignment at a prominent government organization.
- In this challenging role, you will work on establishing an organization-wide framework for security logging, retention, and SOC integration.
- You will make a direct contribution to strengthening the digital resilience and compliance of critical government infrastructure.
What you do
- Inventory and technically validate relevant security and system log sources.
- Establish a risk-based retention and privacy matrix in accordance with NIS2 and CyFun guidelines.
- Perform an analysis of current and planned log streams towards external SOC/SIEM providers and identify gaps.
- Assess whether an independent log retention layer or additional software is required based on a 3-year TCO and business case.
- Establish a Log Source Register, target architecture, requirements, and a concrete implementation roadmap.
- Facilitate workshops with IT administrators, CISO, DPO, and external suppliers.
Profile
- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, of which 5+ years in security logging, SIEM, and SOC architecture.
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent through relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001).
- Thorough knowledge of logging and SIEM architectures, incident detection, event taxonomy, and log retention.
- Demonstrable experience with Microsoft security logging (Active Directory, Entra ID, WEC, Defender, M365) and network logs (Firewalls, VPN, Proxies).
- Practical knowledge of multiple SIEM/log management platforms.
- Familiar with laws and regulations such as NIS2, CyFun, and AVG/GDPR in the context of log management.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch or French, with good knowledge of the second national language and English.
- Independent and advisory attitude with the capacity to translate technical analyses into clear management decisions.
