Safety and Environment Officer
You will work within a large government organization committed to the interests, prosperity, and freedom of the Netherlands. You will be part of the staff of a commander responsible for large surface units.
What you will do. As a Safety and Environment Officer, you will provide practical support in the areas of occupational health and safety (ARBO), safety, and environment. You will be responsible for conducting risk inventories and evaluations (RI&E). You will report, advise, and support colleagues and the head of the section. You are willing to pursue further training.
Your responsibilities include:
- Advising and supporting the drafting of plans, reports, and statements.
- Informing, advising, and answering questions from employees, management, and the works council about legal obligations, policy and regulations, applicable standards and requirements, and various ARBO and environment-related issues.
- Contributing to the development, organization, and implementation of a plan for information and instruction on ARBO and environmental risks.
- Organizing and supporting information sessions on occupational risks.
- Performing prevention tasks.
- Representing the organization in consultation forums and working groups, including participation in associated working groups.
- Periodically coordinating and conducting RI&Es, including making proposals and supporting/drafting an action plan.
- Supporting the investigator in incidents, assessing reported (near) incidents and unsafe situations, and investigating incidents if there is cause to do so.
- Coordinating care for working conditions and the environment.
- In collaboration with a specialized expertise center, making proposals regarding workplaces and work approaches.
- Implementing and proposing improvements to the safety and environmental management system.
What they ask
- Successfully completed a secondary vocational education in Safety (MVK) or Environmental Studies (MMK).
- Experience with (semi-)governmental organizations is a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills and a flexible attitude.
- Analytical ability.
- Ability to work independently, even under pressure.
- Very good command of Dutch, both written and spoken.
Practical
- A security clearance is part of the hiring procedure.
- Possession of a Dutch identity document is required.
