Youth Worker

The organization provides shelter for young people aged 13 to 18 who need structure and regularity. They receive 24/7 guidance so that from the age of 18, they can live independently in a reception center, their country of origin, or their own home. Within the team, a good working atmosphere is very important, and colleagues collaborate closely. Regular meetings and (intervision) discussions take place to ensure quality.

What you do

  • Regularly conduct mentoring conversations with the young people as a dedicated supervisor.
  • Maintain contact with external organizations and aid workers, such as the guardian, school, and general practitioner.
  • Ensure a safe and livable residential environment.
  • Be a visible point of contact for the young people.

What they ask

  • Education: HBO diploma (e.g., Social Work, Social Work and Services, SPH, Pedagogy, or Applied Psychology).
  • Registration: SKJ registered or the possibility to register in the short term.
  • Work experience: at least 4 years of relevant work experience with youth in youth care, mental health care, care institutions, and/or welfare work.
  • Personality: be resilient, empathetic without losing professional distance, and clear in setting boundaries.
  • Flexibility: be available for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts (night shifts are always waking shifts).
  • A relevant MBO diploma combined with an SKJ registration is also welcome.

Practical

  • You will work at one of the reception centers. The size of the reception centers and the number of young people vary per location.
  • A team consists of 15 to 40 employees, including youth workers, residential supervisors, and behavioral experts.
  • The organization initially offers a one-year contract, with the possibility of a permanent contract thereafter.
  • Secondary employment conditions include travel allowance, an individual choice budget (IKB) of 18% of the annual salary, pension scheme, career budget, and vitality hours.
  • A career budget of 1.5% of the monthly salary is available for training or education.
  • A pre-employment screening is conducted, consisting of a request for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), diploma and certificate verification, and identity verification.
