For an educational institution, we are looking for an experienced Business Analyst / Functional Analyst. In this role, you will be the connecting link between the educational business and the supporting disciplines, with the aim of understanding, improving, and harmonizing processes to enable appropriate digital solutions.
What you will do. You will work independently and with significant responsibility within a complex organizational environment, collaborating closely with domain information managers, stakeholders, and an information architect.
- Inventory the needs and wishes of the business and translate them into usable processes and functional solutions.
- Analyze existing processes, process variants, bottlenecks, and dependencies through interviews, workshops, and task and workflow analysis.
- Prepare process, scenario, gap, and impact analyses to support decision-making.
- Translate business requirements into functional IT specifications and designs.
- Guide stakeholders in simplifying, harmonizing, and standardizing processes before they are digitized.
- Provide insight into the impact of different solution directions on the organization, processes, roles, and the application landscape.
- Facilitate the trade-off between organization-wide standardization and necessary domain-specific customization.
- Advise on process ownership, roles, responsibilities, and process governance.
- Support the implementation and embedding of chosen solutions in collaboration with the project and management organization.
- Monitor the coherence between processes, systems, and organizational objectives.
Profile
- Minimum HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level, supplemented with demonstrable work experience in a similar role.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a large, complex organizational environment.
Required Skills.
- Experience with BPMN process modeling and its stepwise application according to the required insight.
- Experience with harmonizing and standardizing processes across multiple organizational units.
- Demonstrable experience with trajectories where processes were first analyzed and simplified before being digitized.
- Knowledge of architectural principles and methodologies; experience working under architecture is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of process ownership, process governance, and the coherence between organization, processes, information, and applications.
- Strong analytical skills combined with excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English, including the ability to chair meetings in English.
- Proactive attitude with a keen eye for main and minor issues and the ability to translate conflicting interests into clear choices.
- Experience within the public sector or education is a strong plus.
