Enforcement Lawyer

• In case of violations, you take action. Together with the inspector, you look for the most suitable solution to settle a case, thinking in terms of possibilities and and solutions.
• The work requires a certain degree of independence, creativity, and integrality.
• Coordinating and guiding various enforcement projects.
• Legal guidance and municipal representation in administrative enforcement cases (Environmental Law, Housing Act, Building Act, etc.).
• Assessing laws and regulations to determine if a violation has occurred (e.g., assessing the zoning plan to determine if actions are taken without or in deviation from an environmental permit).
• Drafting intentions, urgent administrative enforcement decisions, orders under administrative coercion, orders subject to penalty, and collection decisions.
• Handling objections, both written and oral.
• Independent representation before the General Objections Committee, the court, and the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State.
• Acting as a legal point of contact within the department regarding enforcement.
• Legal point of contact for Building and Housing Inspection inspectors.
• Drafting informative notes for the executive and the college.

What they ask

• Minimum of a completed university (WO) degree in Dutch Law.
• Work experience at a government or municipal organization with more than 160,000 inhabitants.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience as an administrative law lawyer.
• Work experience with the e-suite case management system.

Wishes.

• Knowledge of and work experience with permit issuance, such as the Environmental Law, Housing Act, the Building Act at a government organization.
• 2 years of work experience as a lawyer or an equivalent position such as Legal Advisor or Legal Counsel.
• Possess a PWO Dutch Law certificate.
