Road Safety Officer

Within a local government, a cycling education project for 6th-grade students has been running for over 15 years. This project is a collaboration between primary schools, the police, and the local government, and consists of 3 main components:

  • A theoretical component with lessons on road safety specifically adapted for this age group
  • Completing a cycling agility course
  • The cycling exam where all students complete a course with about 8 tests.

After completing these components, all participating students are invited to an annual cycling apotheosis where they receive their cycling diploma. In addition, a project on safe pedestrian crossing at zebra crossings near primary schools is also underway. This is an awareness campaign involving school management, students, parents, authorized supervisors, and the police.

What you will do.

  • You will be deployed as a junior officer for the aforementioned projects.
  • After completing a (short) training as an authorized supervisor, you will be deployed every school day as an authorized supervisor.
  • In collaboration with the mobility officer, it will be explored how you can be further involved in the aspect of road safety.

Profile

  • You are under 26 years old.
  • You are no longer subject to compulsory education.
  • You are low-skilled, meaning you do not possess a secondary education diploma. Specifically, this means you:
  • Did not pass the second year of the third degree of general secondary education (ASO), artistic secondary education (KSO), or technical secondary education (TSO)
  • Did not pass the third year of the third degree of vocational secondary education (BSO)
  • Did not obtain a diploma via part-time vocational secondary education (DBSO)
  • OR you are following/have followed special secondary education
  • You are motivated to follow additional training / obtain an additional qualification.
  • You meet the general recruitment conditions.
