Data is only useful if the foundation is correct. As a Data Developer, you build and maintain the data chains that enable analyses, dashboards, and advice. Within a Microsoft Fabric environment, you set up the complete data chain: from loading and transforming source data to managing a clear, secure, and high-performing data environment. Additionally, you build reports and dashboards in Power BI yourself, so that the data you unlock becomes directly usable for colleagues, policy advisors, and administrators.
You work closely with the Data Advisor, data analysts, and policy departments.
What you do
- Set up the data chain within Microsoft Fabric: from workspace setup and security to orchestration of pipelines
- Build pipelines and transformation processes to load, process, and make source data available, using SQL, PySpark, and/or KQL
- Design table structures for the Lakehouse and Warehouse environment, and optimize schemas, partitions
- Implement governance and security: access control, sensitivity labels, and monitoring data quality
- Monitor the data chain, identify and resolve errors and disruptions
- Build reports and dashboards in Power BI for various target groups within the organization, in coordination with the Data Advisor and data analysts
- Actively contribute to the further development of the data platform and identify opportunities to automate or improve processes
- Work closely with the Data Advisor, data analysts, and policy departments, ensuring data, reports, and insights align
Profile
You are analytical, curious, and enjoy building. You like to understand a technical problem and translate it into a working, reliable solution. You think in structures and processes, but do not lose sight of user-friendliness for the end-user. You work independently but easily consult with the Data Advisor and data analysts on the right approach.
What they ask
- HBO/WO (higher professional education/university) work and thinking level, for example in a direction such as Informatics, Data Science, or Business Administration with a strong data affinity
- Demonstrable experience in building and maintaining data chains/pipelines, preferably within Microsoft Fabric or comparable platforms (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks)
- Knowledge of and experience with SQL, PySpark/Python, and ideally KQL
- Experience in building reports and dashboards in Power BI
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and performance optimization
- Good communication skills: you can explain technical choices understandably to colleagues without a technical background
- Experience within a public context is a plus, as is a certification such as Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)
