Social Domain Business Controller

A government organization faces major societal challenges in the coming years. Innovative and efficient solutions must be devised for this. You will co-design these plans by shaping the various projects within the financial frameworks. You will provide insight and overview and be the financial sparring partner for the various budget holders: policy officers, project leaders, and department managers. You will make an active contribution to the preparation and development of products in the P&C cycle.

The Social Domain is your field of work, which includes the WMO (Social Support Act), income and Debt Assistance, Social Teams, and Youth. You will focus on the WMO account and (regional) partnerships.

What you will do.

  • Advise on budgets, college, and executive proposals, with a focus on future developments. You will be an active sparring partner for (project) managers within the Social Domain.
  • Participate in projects and proposals to exert timely influence, for example, on developments in the WMO and their effects on residents.
  • Improve reports on the operational management of the Social Domain and advise the management team on this, in collaboration with the Social Domain coordinator and the P&O, IPPM, and Business Administration departments.
  • Provide solicited and unsolicited advice. You will be visible and have a clear vision on financial issues, timely identifying and acting on financial risks.
  • Connect financial policy and your accounts. You will test new developments against this policy and clarify what this means for the Social Domain.
  • Be (co-)responsible for the contributions from your accounts in the planning and control cycle.
  • Contribute to the development of P&C products.

  • Strong analytical and communicative skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good at planning and organizing.

  • Able to make connections and solve complex issues, seeing and overseeing risks.
  • Brings a logical structure to a large amount of information and can distinguish main from secondary issues.
  • Can listen well and articulate their own message clearly.
  • Expert in finance and can explain financial concepts in understandable language to non-financials.
  • Writes concretely, clearly, and accessibly.
  • Maintains an overview, adjusts where necessary, and ensures tasks are completed.
  • Extroverted, driven, and dares to take a stand.

What they ask

  • Completed and relevant education at a minimum of HBO (higher professional education) level.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience as a business controller or in a similar financial advisory role.

Preferences.

  • Experience within the social domain is a plus. Experience in healthcare or with a housing corporation is also valuable.
