As an ambulant youth and family counselor, you literally step into the living world of families. You make home visits, build a relationship of trust, and work together on sustainable change. You look not only at the problems, but especially at the strengths and opportunities within the family. With methodological insight, creativity, and a warm approach, you teach families new skills and actively practice them with them, in their own environment.
You guide families with complex problems who want to move forward on their own, but sometimes need a push. You know how to connect, how to motivate, and how to make goals concrete together. You work with different family dynamics and know that every family needs something different. You write care plans, report on successes and challenges, and support families with various needs. You work methodically and purposefully to strengthen families and increase their self-reliance.
In doing so, you look not only at what is needed today, but also at what a family needs to be able to continue independently in the long term. Within the basic team, you work together to make an impact; you learn from each other, grow together, and share successes. Your knowledge of social services and youth and family care is excellent. You know which paths to take, what help is appropriate, and when to involve other expertise. You have a lot of freedom to organize your own agenda and activities.
You work independently, but can always rely on your colleagues and the basic team. Because you work in families' homes, no situation is the same. Sometimes an appointment during the day is appropriate, sometimes it is necessary to visit a family in the evening. This flexibility makes it possible to truly stand by families and connect with their daily lives.

What they ask
- Completed HBO bachelor's degree in an agogic field (e.g., Social Work or Pedagogy) or WO degree in Orthopedagogy
- SKJ registered (or immediately registrable)
- In possession of a driving license and own transport, willing to travel
- Christian faith and able to articulate what this means to you
