Energy and Spatial Advisor

Shaping the new field of energy spatial planning.

  • The energy transition requires scarce space, while spatial developments cannot proceed without a strong energy system.
  • Connecting spatial planning and energy policy to make choices for a future-proof region.

What You Will Do.

  • Actively shape the new field of energy spatial planning within a long-term programming for the energy transition.
  • Establish the connection between choices in the energy system and the spatial layout of the region.
  • Make clear what spatial plans mean for the energy network and vice versa.
  • Act as the link between the energy team and the spatial domain.
  • Ensure that acquired knowledge is translated into the organization's environmental policy.
  • Key tasks:
  • Take the lead within the multidisciplinary integrated programming working group and develop methodologies and future visions for 2050 together with GIS analysts, designers, and network operators.
  • Analyze where spatial and energy challenges conflict and translate insights into concrete policy statements and frameworks.
  • Manage and connect external partners, such as municipalities, regional organizations, and research agencies, to strengthen the coherence between spatial and energy planning.

Profile

  • Academic working and thinking level.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in an advisory role.
  • Spatial background or demonstrable experience with spatial processes.
  • Experience with policy development and advisory within a transition process or spatial policy.
  • Knowledge of government processes concerning the physical living environment and energy transition (e.g., Environmental Act).
  • Clear and decisive communication skills in Dutch.
  • Knowledge of the energy system is a plus.
  • Integral thinking, analytical sharpness, and a hands-on mentality.
  • Flexible in responding to changes and maintaining course in a dynamic environment.
  • Curiosity and collaboration are in your DNA.
  • Open attitude and broad interest to connect people, interests, and tasks.

  • You will work within the Energy Transition assignment, as part of the Energy System team.
