This postdoc position focuses on plant breeding and exploring the genetic potential of plants to develop resilient crops for sustainable agriculture.
- The research aims to create crop cultivars (with a focus on tomato) that are resistant to different diseases under abiotic stresses, using advanced biotechnology and molecular breeding tools.
- The researcher will work with different teams on several projects, including European and national initiatives.

- Identify the needs of future plant breeding.
- Design and conduct research, including writing articles.
- Supervise MSc and PhD students.

- A PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g., Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology/Virology).
- Proven research skills in unraveling molecular genetics of disease resistance.
- Excellent planning and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Collaborative personality, interested in working with colleagues and students.
- A proven ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- A good command of the English language (C1 level).
Profile
- Researcher skilled in communication, genetics, plant breeding, and/or phytopathology.
- Collaborative attitude and a keen interest in (resistance) breeding.
- Experience in crop genetics and breeding is preferred.
Practical
- You will work closely with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams of a research group within a research institution.
- Collaboration with other departments and business units is part of the role.
- The organization is a highly international group with more than 30 nationalities, organized into research groups.
- Fundamental, strategic, and applied research is conducted, and teaching is provided at all educational levels.
- The research focuses on the genetic basis of traits relevant to achieving sustainable agriculture and horticulture, often in partnership with breeding companies and governments.
