A municipal waste management service works daily towards a clean and livable city. Data plays an increasingly important role in this. To further professionalize data-driven work, a data engineer is sought with a strong substantive and practical approach. In this role, you will work on the technical foundation of information provision. You will ensure that data is reliably, reproducibly, and scalably available for analyses, dashboards, and decision-making.
This lays the foundation for better steering on waste collection, logistics, recycling centers, and further process improvement. Your work will be visible and have a direct impact on services to residents and businesses.
What you will do. As a data engineer, you will be responsible for setting up, managing, and improving the data chain within the waste management service. You will work closely with operations, but with a clear focus on data structure and sustainability.
- Setting up, managing, and monitoring data streams and data refreshes.
- Developing and maintaining datasets and data models, including for Power BI.
- Structurally securing and improving data quality across multiple data sources.
- Identifying and resolving disruptions in data and data processes.
- Contributing to ICT changes, data linkages, and improvements in information provision.
- Collaborating with colleagues from operations, policy, ICT, and with external suppliers.
Profile
- HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level, preferably in the direction of data, ICT, or information management.
- Good command of the Dutch language, both written and spoken.
- Experience with SQL, data modeling, and working with multiple data sources.
- Experience with Power BI datasets, Power Query, and data processes.
- Knowledge of data quality, data management, and operational data streams.
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous, independent, and forward-thinking.
- Good communication skills and a practical, service-oriented attitude.
