This position is within an ambulatory family treatment team, part of an expertise center for youth mental healthcare. This center provides 2nd and 3rd line care to children and adolescents with complex psychiatric issues. The focus is on specialized diagnostics and treatment for optimal recovery and participation. Treatment targets neurobiological developmental disorders, trauma and attachment, personality disorders, infant mental health, and mild intellectual disability in combination with psychiatric problems.
The center offers outpatient, day-clinic, and clinical functions for young people aged 0 to 18 (and up to 23 for mild intellectual disability) with psychosocial or psychiatric disorders.
What you do
- Treat children and adolescents within the framework of the individual treatment plan.
- Maintain direct contact with clients and their network at home.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and care partners.
- Network and make new connections.
- Apply methodologies such as Intensive Ambulatory Family Treatment (IAG), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and systemic work.
- Specifically observe the behavior of children and adolescents and how they interact with their environment.
- Help families break patterns by gaining insights.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans and team policy through various consultation forms.
Practical
- Start the day with a multidisciplinary meeting (MDO) with the lead therapist to discuss and adjust family treatment processes.
- Conduct home visits to observe and break interaction patterns with family members, with agreements for follow-up.
- Have lunch with colleagues.
- Participate in coaching sessions with a behavioral specialist (once every three weeks) for personal development and case discussion.
- Conduct initial home visits, including creating a genogram with parents to gain insight into parenting influences.
- Conclude the day with a kick-off meeting with the family and lead therapist to define treatment goals and explore conflict dynamics.
- Consult with colleagues in preparation for joint home visits.
Profile
- Completed HBO-SPH, HBO-V, or HBO Social Work degree.
- Optionally supplemented with advanced courses in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, systemic-oriented training, and/or IAG.
- Work experience with complex target groups and ambulatory work within child and adolescent psychiatry.
- Experience with independent systemic work.
- Trained in or willing to follow IAG training.
- BIG or SKJ registered.
- Ability to work both independently and team-oriented under the supervision of a GZ-psychologist or psychiatrist.
- Ability to work demand-driven, methodically, and results-oriented.
