Data Architect

A public educational institution is looking for a data architect/data steward to further develop and standardize data within the Education Organization IV domain.
- Data is stored and processed to support education and educational logistics.
- In a change project, data in the curriculum system, resource planning, and scheduling systems is standardized based on newly designed planning and scheduling processes.
- A canonical data catalog will be established.
- You will work under the guidance of the domain architect and collaborate closely with the business analyst, solution architects, and process experts.
- You are responsible for modeling and documenting the definitions, quality, and origin of the necessary data in the canonical data catalog.
- You define business rules that determine the use and coherence of information objects.
- The lineage and origin of data elements will be recorded.
- Together with the business analyst, you will ensure implementation according to the set data quality requirements.
- During the assignment, you will monitor definitions, agreements, and the use of data elements, ensuring that information is unambiguous, reliable, and traceable.
What you will do.
- Document and manage the definitions of data elements for the Education Organization domain.
- Ensure that the canonical data catalog contains the correct information objects and data elements, initially focusing on planning and scheduling.
- Define and align business rules that determine the coherence and use of information objects, and model the data catalog accordingly.
- Align changes in the data catalog with business stakeholders, functional administrators, and architecture.
- Align the implementation and population of the data catalog with business analysts, architects, and development teams.
- Link data in applications to information objects and data elements in the canonical data catalog and record this in ValuBlue.
- Record which data is exchanged between applications and which transformations are performed in BlueDolphin.
- Set up a process for managing and documenting data quality.
- Contribute to establishing and adhering to data standards and guidelines.
- Advise management on data risks and opportunities.
- Ensure that decisions regarding definitions and the use of the data catalog are documented and discoverable.
- Ensure clear and unambiguous formulations of processes, business rules, and data definitions.
- Monitor consistency between processes, business rules, and data, and ensure uniform use of definitions.
- Prepare, facilitate, and lead workshops to formulate and establish business rules and definitions.
- Actively seek connection between different stakeholders and interests, ensuring clear documentation and feedback of session outcomes.
- Help colleagues within the educational organization to properly understand and interpret data, data definitions, and the origin and lineage of data.
- Provide explanations and training on the data catalog, business rules, and KPI definitions.
- Act as a bridge between education and IT for data-related issues.
- Collaborate closely with domain and solution architects and relevant change initiatives.

- A modeled and populated canonical data catalog for relevant information objects and data elements.
- Documented data definitions and business rules.
- Documented data lineage, origin, data exchanges, and transformations in ValuBlue and BlueDolphin.
- An established process for managing and documenting data quality.
- Documented decisions, standards, and guidelines for data usage and management.
- Prepared and executed workshops with documented outcomes.
- Explanations and/or training for involved employees.

- Minimum a completed HBO education (Bachelor's degree).
- Minimum two years of demonstrable work experience as a data architect and/or data steward, gained in the last five years.
- Demonstrable experience with information analysis and data modeling and with structuring information objects, data elements, and their interrelationships.
- Demonstrable experience with preparing, facilitating, and leading workshops aimed at establishing definitions, business rules, and decisions.
- Demonstrable experience with educational logistics processes within higher education, gained in at least one relevant assignment.
- Experience with methods and techniques such as TOGAF and ArchiMate.
- Experience with architecture tools such as BlueDolphin and Archi.
- Experience with documenting data catalogs, data lineage, and data quality.
- Experience with multidisciplinary collaboration between business, functional management, architecture, and development teams.
