You will apply your nursing knowledge to adults and elderly people with intellectual disabilities. You help them live as pleasantly and independently as possible. No day is the same, but every day matters. The residents live in an apartment complex in a quiet residential area. Everyone has their own apartment, and there are shared living rooms for meetings and activities. You will work in a department where 9 residents between 45 and 85 years old live.
They have an intellectual disability and sometimes also physical limitations or psychiatric problems. Good care and guidance look different for each person; one needs structure and clarity, while another needs support with personal care, technical nursing care, or complete assistance with ADL. The caregivers work according to the experience-oriented care methodology, where the wishes, possibilities, and needs of the residents are always central.
