Supervisor for deaf blind clients

Within the residential groups of a care organization, adults with multiple disabilities, including visual, intellectual, physical, and auditory impairments, reside. Each client has a unique care need, with most primarily experiencing the world through their senses.

What you will do. You will assist clients with their daily activities at a calm pace, with ample time and attention. Due to the complex care needs of this target group, who cannot hear and see, everything takes longer, and some clients receive additional care. Communication is essential; you will use total communication with objects, gestures, and touch, and all senses to make contact. You will receive courses to learn these communication methods.

Even in busy situations, you will remain calm and focus on the right pace, contact, and communication.

  • Working with a unique target group: deaf-blind clients with multiple disabilities
  • Providing care for adult clients with visual, auditory, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities
  • Supporting clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), such as dressing, showering
  • Engaging in activities appropriate for the sensory phase
  • Ensuring a pleasant living environment
  • Observing clients, identifying issues, and reporting on them
  • Implementing the client plan
  • As a personal supervisor, you will be the contact person for several clients and maintain regular contact with parents, caregivers, and therapists.

Practical

  • Variable working hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays (no sleep or night shifts)
  • Good employment conditions in accordance with the CAO Gehandicaptenzorg (Collective Labor Agreement for Disability Care), including an 8.33% year-end bonus
  • Opportunities for training and courses, such as LACCS, or participation in expertise activities
