Residential Counselor

Contribute to the establishment of a new walk-in facility. A new location means new colleagues, new ideas, and the opportunity to build a place where people feel welcome from the start. As a Residential Counselor at this new walk-in facility, you will have the space to set up a facility with your team where encounter, recovery, and perspective are central.

What you will do.

  • You are a familiar face to visitors of the walk-in center.
  • You ensure a safe and welcoming environment where people can drop in without an appointment for a cup of coffee, a listening ear, or support with a request for help.
  • You guide visitors with various challenges, such as homelessness, psychological issues, addiction, debts, or social isolation.
  • You conduct individual conversations, provide support where possible, and help people find their way to appropriate assistance.
  • When necessary, you set guidance goals together with the participant and meticulously record agreements in the client file.
  • You offer practical support, conduct motivational conversations, and liaise with colleagues and chain partners.
  • In situations where tension or unrest arises, you remain calm, professional, and act in a de-escalating manner.
  • You will be involved from the start in the development of a completely new walk-in facility.
  • Your ideas, initiative, and experience will help make this location a warm and safe place for both visitors and colleagues.

What they ask

  • Minimum of an MBO-4 diploma, for example MMZ, SPW, or Social Work.
  • Experience or affinity with people facing complex social and psychological issues.
  • Ability to handle verbal aggression and tense situations, and to act in a de-escalating manner.
  • Good social, pedagogical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to report meticulously and work with a client file.
  • A positive Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required.
  • Christian identity (Protestant, Catholic, etc.) and ability to articulate what this means in your daily life and work.

Practical

  • The application procedure consists of two interviews and a Predictive Index (PI) assessment.
  • Reference checks and diploma verification are part of the application procedure.
