As a basic doctor with a broad interest, you will work in the Intensive Care (IC) unit of a top clinical hospital. You will rapidly develop clinical skills and build a strong foundation for your specialization within a young and dynamic team.
What you do
- Responsible for patient care in the IC, together with intensivists.
- Performing emergency interventions.
- Participating in the resuscitation team.
- Conducting consultations for critically ill patients in the department and the emergency room.
- Learning technical skills such as performing heart and lung ultrasounds, and placing central lines and infusions.
- Performing bronchoscopies, placing chest drains and tracheostomies.
- Deepening understanding of the social aspect of care, such as discussions about advanced care planning and guiding family members.
- Working in a team with intensivists, resident doctors, physician assistants, and specialized IC nurses.
Profile
- Diploma as a BIG-registered basic doctor or in the final phase of internships.
- Affinity with acute or intensive care.
- Social, communicative, and eager to learn.
- Protected against Hepatitis B.
- Willingness to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG).
Practical
- Personal coaching by a self-chosen mentor in the IC.
- Opportunity to draw up a personal learning plan, tailored to learning needs and ambitions.
- Daily bedside teaching, regular ultrasound education, and CRM training in the department.
- Following and co-coordinating the training program for resident doctors.
- Obligation to complete the FCCS course at the start.
- Opportunity to participate in scientific research and potentially write a case report.
- Option for a combined trajectory with other departments such as the emergency room, internal medicine, or surgery.
- Being part of an active, young, and energetic group with informal drinks and annual events.
- Active community from the resident doctors and the academy with various activities.
