Woo Advisor

Due to maternity leave and increasing workload, support is needed.

  • You are responsible for the coordination and handling of all matters related to the Open Government Act (Woo).
  • You will work within the Woo desk of the Legal Affairs department of a government organization.

What you do

  • You independently handle Woo requests from receipt to final decision-making.
  • You initiate search queries within the organization and assist colleagues in determining the correct search terms.
  • You assess independently which steps are necessary and when legal coordination is required.
  • You monitor legal deadlines and take timely action.
  • You are capable of handling multiple Woo requests simultaneously and setting priorities.
  • You address colleagues when information is not provided or is provided late.
  • You establish contact with the requester after receiving the Woo request.
  • You can explain to colleagues what information needs to be searched for and why.
  • You can deal with resistance or conflicting interests within a dossier.
  • If necessary, you initiate and organize a discussion between the Woo requester and the involved department(s).
  • You assess whether the performed search has been sufficient and thorough.
  • You keep involved colleagues informed of the progress.
  • You coordinate the handling of complex or sensitive Woo requests.
  • You ensure a complete and verifiable dossier.
  • You represent the organization before the appeals committee and/or court in case of an objection to a Woo decision.
  • Together with a colleague, you give presentations/workshops on the Woo to increase knowledge and awareness within the organization.

What they ask

  • Completed HBO/WO (higher professional education/university) degree in Law/Dutch Law.
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience at a government organization with the fully independent handling of Woo requests, including assessing the application, redacting the requested documents using Octobox and/or a comparable anonymization tool, and drafting the decision.
  • Demonstrable experience with representation before an appeals committee and court for objections and appeals related to Woo decisions.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Awb (General Administrative Law Act) and Woo.

Preferences.

  • Demonstrable work experience with Octobox.
  • Completed a training/course in the field of Woo at a recognized educational institution in the past three years.
