Quality Manager

As Product Compliance Manager, you are responsible for the quality department that determines the quality and safety of products sold within a retail organization's formulas. In this varied role, you are responsible for the department, processes, and policy. From procurement to consumer complaints, you are involved and guiding in how to handle quality standards. This is an important and varied role at the heart of the product portfolio.

You lead a team (5 employees) that ensures products in the assortment of the DIY store formulas comply with applicable laws and regulations and the organization's requirements. Particular attention is paid to private label products.

What you do

  • Further develop and professionalize the processes and assurance of product quality within the organization. The role of data will play a major part in this.
  • Strengthen the team's position within the organization.
  • Monitor developments in laws and regulations concerning products and act accordingly. You ensure everyone is aware of upcoming changes and that products comply with laws and regulations. You do this in collaboration with external consultancy firms and the industry organization.
  • Maintain an overview, investigate and document problems or complaints, and ensure structural improvement of product quality.
  • Direct and organize thorough research into the quality and legal requirements of existing and new products.
  • Maintain contact with supervisory authorities and internal stakeholders, ensuring a high level of quality and appropriate product safety.
  • Maintain contacts with the procurement organization in Asia and be responsible for ensuring all products are checked and approved before shipment.
  • Manage the quality management department.
  • Ensure that the packaging and information on the packaging of the private label formulas comply with all legal requirements.

You are a true connector and enjoy being hands-on. Decisive and results-oriented with a sharp focus on quality and how the brands are known in the market with their products. Someone who likes to have their own responsibilities and dares to set priorities for the department. The task package may vary, but you are able to maintain an overview and guide. For you, it is clear what your tasks are, the direction we want to go, what needs to be done and when, and with whom you need and want to collaborate.

Sometimes you have to say 'no'. You are a social colleague with excellent communication skills. As the organization increasingly works data-driven, you can challenge your department by formulating KPIs and working towards them.

What they ask

  • HBO/WO (higher professional education/university) working and thinking level, possibly in a technical direction or business administration.
  • Relevant (preferably managerial) work experience in quality management in the DIY sector, a consumer products organization, or a consultancy firm, for example as a quality manager.
  • Experience with project management and team leadership.
  • Some hands-on experience and technical knowledge so you understand the products you are working with.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English languages.
