Youth Worker

The organization provides care for young people aged 13 to 18 who have often experienced a lot. They need structure and regularity. This role requires specific knowledge and skills. The young people are supervised 24/7 so that from the age of 18, they can live independently in a reception center, their country of origin, or their own home in the Netherlands. You will work at a small-scale reception location that accommodates approximately 20 unaccompanied minor refugees (UMR).

These young people require extra care, such as psychological/medical care or more intensive guidance.

What you will do.

• Regularly conduct mentor interviews with the young people as a dedicated supervisor.
• Maintain contact with external organizations and care providers, such as guardians, schools, and general practitioners.
• Ensure a safe and livable residential environment.
• Be a visible point of contact for the young people.

What they ask

• Education: Relevant HBO or university degree in Social Work, MWD, SPH, CMV, Pedagogy, Psychology, or another degree within the Social Sciences.
• SKJ registration is required or the possibility to obtain it within two years.
• Work experience: Minimum 1 year of work experience as a youth worker, youth outreach worker, social worker, or supervisor in youth care, youth assistance, mental health care, general care, and/or welfare work.
• Personality: Be resilient, empathetic with a big heart for youth without losing professional distance, and clear in setting boundaries.
• Flexibility: Availability for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts (night shifts are always waking shifts) is a strict requirement. You will always work with at least one other colleague.
