Contribute to more sustainable fisheries and the preservation of valuable seabed habitats in the North Sea.
- Take on a key role in the development and application of seabed indicators that help evaluate and make the impact of fisheries on the seabed more sustainable.
What you will do.
- Participate in the evaluation of the impact of fisheries on benthic habitats within a national and international context.
- Analyze seabed and fisheries data.
- Investigate relationships between fishing pressure and seabed indicators.
- Contribute to the further development and improvement of assessment methodologies.
- Independently develop insights, optimize analyses, and elaborate innovative solutions.
- Translate complex scientific information into usable knowledge for policymakers and the fishing sector.
- Visualize results, prepare reports, and present findings to diverse target groups.
- Support the implementation of European directives for marine strategy and nature restoration.
- Be part of a specialized team and collaborate closely with colleagues within the research institution and international experts.
- Participate in international working groups, conferences, and consultation platforms.
- Actively contribute to a scientifically sound and practically applicable assessment of the seabed impact of fisheries.
What they ask
- Master's degree, preferably in biology, bio-engineering sciences, or an equivalent marine scientific discipline.
- Good knowledge of R for data analysis, spatial analysis, and visualization.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing).

- Be hands-on and proactive, able to work independently and take initiative to improve processes, analyses, and methodologies.
- Communicate clearly and purposefully with diverse target groups, translating complex information into understandable messages.

- Permanent contract.
- Salary scale A165 (with a master's degree).
