Healthy School Advisor

A public health organization provides basic support for a Healthy School approach, stemming from its regional mandate and nationally acquired resources.

• A local municipality has commissioned additional investment, on top of this combined basic effort, for the 2026-2027 school year, to further develop the Healthy School approach.
• An experienced Healthy School Advisor is sought to implement this assignment in collaboration with an existing team member.
• The advisor carries out the assignment independently and periodically coordinates with other involved Healthy School Advisors on progress, results, and next steps.
• The focus of this assignment is on supporting schools in a specific municipality.
• Continuity of school contacts, transferability, and mutual coordination are guiding principles. Schools do not need to work towards a specific label; every appropriate step in health counts.
• The contractor contributes to the interim evaluation by the public health organization and the municipality in January/February 2027 and the evaluation in May/June 2027.
• Upon completion, results, ongoing school contacts, and follow-up agreements will be documented for transferability.

What you will do.

• Proactively inform, recruit, and guide primary, secondary, and vocational education schools in the municipality; support structural health policy and appropriate activities.
• Support specific schools with a focus on nutrition and contribute to school visits and collaboration within the School & Environment framework (6 to 8 schools).
• Promote water drinking policies and a 7-day water challenge, including follow-up discussions, and support healthy snacks and the application of a menu card.
• Explore (potential) connection to Healthy Childcare and maintain contacts with relevant partners.
• Translate a multi-year plan for youth health and healthy schools into concrete support and activities for schools.
• Strengthen local collaboration with the municipality, local youth health initiatives, and other partners, and monitor the coherence between their efforts and the Healthy School implementation.
• Contribute to the coordination and delivery of semi-annual monitoring reports to the municipality.
• Contribute to the follow-up measurement among schools based on a baseline measurement; coordinate setup, planning, hours, and role distribution with public health officials, public health advisors, and epidemiology in advance.
• Provide substantive contributions for local communication and newsletters, including local education newsletters.
