Researcher Plant Physiology & Greenhouse Horticulture

Contribute to the greenhouse horticulture of the future! Are you fascinated by how light and climate influence plant growth and development? Do you want to translate fundamental plant physiology into practical innovations for greenhouse horticulture? Then this position is for you. An independent knowledge institution with a team of approximately 10 researchers. We specialize in plant physiological research for greenhouse horticulture and seed breeding.

Our research, including crop development, photosynthesis, lighting, and climate control, takes place in advanced climate cells and greenhouses. We focus on both vegetable cultivation and ornamental horticulture. With this, we help our clients improve their production and product quality, save energy, and accelerate seed breeding.

What you will do. As a Researcher Plant Physiology & Greenhouse Horticulture, you will work on challenging research projects where science and practice come together. You will have a lot of freedom and responsibility to set up and conduct experiments, and translate the results into concrete applications for our clients. You are responsible for setting up, conducting, and analyzing research projects.

You translate practical questions into well-designed experiments based on scientific substantiation, and vice versa, you translate scientific knowledge into practical applications. This helps our clients develop new cultivation strategies and technologies. Your activities include, among others:

  • Designing experiments in climate cells and research greenhouses.
  • Performing plant physiological measurements, such as photosynthesis and growth measurements.
  • Analyzing and interpreting research data.
  • Writing research reports and presenting results.
  • Consulting with clients on ongoing and new research projects.
  • Contributing to the development of new research methods.
  • Guiding junior colleagues.

You are responsible for the entire research process, from research question to experimental design, execution, analysis, and presentation of conclusions.

Profile

You are curious about how plants function and enjoy translating complex physiological processes into practical applications. You like to work independently but also gain energy from collaborating in a small team. In addition, you possess:

  • A PhD in Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Plant Physiology, or an MSc with sufficient relevant work experience.
  • Affinity with plant physiology, photosynthesis, and the interaction between plant and climate.
  • Affinity with greenhouse horticulture is a plus.
  • Good analytical skills and experience with processing research data.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English languages.
  • Driving license B.
