Legal advisor objection and appeal

A government organization is looking for an experienced legal advisor for objections and appeals. You advise colleagues from various teams on diverse legal issues and are an important sparring partner for policy, implementation, and legal procedures. You will be involved in legal advice across multiple policy areas and support colleagues with complex issues related to policy development, vision formation, and decision-making.

You think along about legal risks, advise on developments within your field, and help teams act legally soundly and practically. You also advise on the handling of objections, appeals, and higher appeals, ensuring that legal issues are clearly translated into usable advice. You report to the client.

What you will do.

  • Handling complex objection and appeal cases (from drafting a procedural file, statement of defense to representing the administrative bodies at hearings)
  • Providing legal advice (internal and external) in the field of administrative law and occasionally in the field of private law
  • Drafting clear and legally sound administrative advice, memos, and decision-making documents for management and the board, with a concrete assessment of legal risks, action options, and actionable advice
  • Contributing to careful decision-making and legal quality assurance

Profile

You will work closely with the legal advisors and the secretary of the objections committee. Through your broad legal perspective, service-oriented attitude, and proactive approach, you contribute to a strong legal foundation within the organization. You are a point of contact for colleagues regarding administrative law issues.

What they ask

  • Demonstrably completed education at a minimum of HBO bachelor level in a legal field
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrable work experience as a legal advisor for objections and appeals in the past 5 years at a government organization
  • Demonstrable work experience with legal advice within administrative law, including environmental law

Preferences.

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrable work experience in the past 10 years in the role of legal professional for objections and appeals at a government organization
  • Demonstrable work experience with legally, administratively, or socially complex objection and appeal files
  • Demonstrably completed education at a minimum of WO bachelor level
