Complex Security Officer

As a complex security officer, you contribute to peace and safety within a judicial institution. You will work alternately in the central control room and perform physical supervision of detainees and visitors. This makes the role varied and unique. You are part of the emergency response organization (BHV) and, if interested, can join an internal assistance team.

What you do

  • Maintain order, peace, and safety within the institution.
  • Check visitors and staff upon entry.
  • Accompany detainees to appointments or activities.
  • Be involved in cell inspections.
  • Monitor the environment via cameras, both inside and outside.
  • Guard safety in visitor rooms, general areas, and detainee sections.
  • Intervene when necessary.
  • Admit and register staff and visitors, supervising safety measures.
  • Monitor isolation cells via cameras for quick intervention in emergencies.
  • Supervise conjugal visits and perform body searches afterwards.
  • Support in calamities, for example, during fights between detainees.
  • Ensure safety around the building.

Profile

The situation can change quickly, so you are always alert and adapt easily. You are stress-resistant, decisive, and have strong communication skills. You adapt your communication with detainees to the situation.

  • Demonstrable MBO 2 work and thinking level (assessed with an aptitude test).
  • Interest in security and the importance of everyone feeling safe.
  • Remain calm during tensions and act clearly and respectfully.
  • Good physical and mental condition.
  • Some technical knowledge of security systems and cameras, or the willingness to learn this.
  • Good communication skills in Dutch.
  • Willingness to work irregular shifts (day, evening, or night shifts).
