Cultural Policy Advisor

Policy advice in the field of culture is a responsibility of the Governance network (Welfare, Sport and Culture team) within a public organization. The role focuses on cultural policy for a specific municipality.

What you will do.

  • You will lead cultural policy and ensure the realization of ambitions primarily for a specific municipality, with the cultural note serving as a guideline.
  • In collaboration with cultural coaches, you will monitor the progress of the cultural implementation agenda and adjust where necessary.
  • You will ensure that culture is well represented in other integrated policy developments broadly within the social domain.
  • You will translate the recently established implementation agenda into practice.
  • You will perform various policy tasks such as granting subsidies.
  • You will write advice for the college and council.
  • You will be involved in accountability in the P&C cycle (framework note, budget, annual accounts).
  • You will be involved in larger cultural events.
  • You will be responsible for the subsidy process for cultural institutions and, where necessary, the administrative accountability of the annual accounts and budget.
  • You will coordinate with these institutions the developments and progress of various projects and activities.
  • You will be able to read financial overviews and issues well and translate them into actions.

Profile

  • As an account manager, you will be the point of contact for cultural institutions such as libraries, cultural centers, museums, and associations.
  • The activities are an integral part of regular business operations and are carried out within the existing organizational structure.
  • The employee will be part of the team, participate in internal meetings, and work under the daily guidance of the responsible manager.
  • Priorities, activities, and desired results are determined by the organization.
  • Due to the importance of continuity, knowledge retention, and close collaboration with internal stakeholders, this is a structural role within the team that requires full integration into the organization.

  • Demonstrable completed education at a minimum of HBO bachelor level.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrable work experience as a cultural policy advisor.
  • Demonstrable work experience with guiding municipal decision-making processes.

  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrable work experience as a cultural policy advisor.
  • Demonstrable work experience with drafting policy advice for culture, granting subsidies, and account management with larger cultural institutions such as libraries or institutions that develop and implement school and after-school cultural offerings.
  • Demonstrable work experience with drafting policy advice and council proposals.
