An educational institution is seeking a guest lecturer for the Law and Anthropology course.

What you will do.
- Familiarize students with an interdisciplinary approach to law that is rarely covered in traditional education.
- Understand how legal systems function within human societies and under what conditions they maintain themselves or adapt to changed circumstances.
- Study legal systems "from within," without judging or condemning them, using a methodology characterized by qualitative, inductive, and empirical fieldwork.
- Provide students with insight into the history of legal anthropology and the added value of an approach that, without using external normative standards, seeks to understand the functioning of legal systems.
- Apply these insights using concrete themes, cases, and tensions, with a focus on legal pluralism.
- Analyze legal issues in a context-sensitive manner and enrich their argumentation using selected texts from both legal scholarship and anthropological literature.
Profile
- PhD degree obtained and demonstrable academic expertise in the field of Law & Anthropology.
- Either a legal professional with thorough and demonstrable knowledge of social and cultural anthropology, or an anthropologist with demonstrable knowledge of law and legal institutions.
- Strong interdisciplinary interest and ability to connect legal and anthropological perspectives in an academically sound manner.
- Strong historical sensitivity and insight into the origins and development of legal systems within diverse societal and cultural contexts.
- Familiarity with qualitative, context-oriented, and interpretive approaches to law and normativity.
- Clear vision on academic education and the ability to provide research-based and reflective education in a university context.
- Didactic skills and experience in guiding students are a plus.
- Proficiency in English at CEFR level C1 is required for a teaching assignment in English.

- The appointment is for a period of 1 year, renewable.
