A research-intensive, internationally oriented university is seeking a guest lecturer for the 'Immigration Law' course (5%) within the Master of Laws program. The faculty aims to revitalize the field of immigration and migration law, both in education, research, and service, with a transversal approach and interdisciplinary openness. The curriculum will cover nationality and residence legislation, as well as private and social law topics related to migration, with particular attention to vulnerable categories.
What you do
- Deliver the national component of the Immigration Law course (in Dutch) within the Master of Laws program, at a campus in Flanders.
- Supervise master's theses in the field of immigration and migration law.
- Familiarize students with the institutional division of powers in migration and integration, key actors, main migration and residence possibilities (study migration, labor migration, family reunification, and residence for humanitarian reasons), appeal options against negative decisions, and relevant legal instruments in migration enforcement and integration.
- Conduct scientific research on immigration and migration law in close collaboration with other researchers.
- Develop initiatives to obtain and execute research projects (Flemish, national, European).
- Co-supervise doctorates.
- Undertake scientific and other service tasks, including collaboration in university and faculty services.
- Be available to government, society, and media for scientific services and clarification.
Profile
- PhD in Law with relevant practical experience.
- Solid vision and ability to provide high-quality research-based academic education.
- Excellent didactic skills.
- Teaching experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated organizational, social, and professional skills, and leadership capabilities to integrate collegially and flexibly into a team.
