Civil Affairs Specialist

As a Civil Affairs Specialist, you will participate in daily practices and help colleagues in their development within a government organization. You are the substantive point of contact within the team and ensure that the work is carried out carefully, qualitatively, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The role combines active participation and coaching. You are hands-on, know what is going on, and can guide colleagues with your professional knowledge.

You do not take over the work but ask questions, brainstorm, provide feedback, and ensure that colleagues can perform complex tasks more independently. You are an important link between professional quality and team development.

What you do

  • Participate in complex tasks within Civil Affairs
  • Guide and coach colleagues on complex cases and tasks
  • Assist colleagues in drafting complex deeds
  • Process complex mutations in the BRP (Personal Records Database)
  • Assess foreign source documents and identify potential fraud signals
  • Handle naturalization and option procedures
  • Organize naturalization ceremonies
  • Perform checks and audits on BRP data and ensure correct processing of corrections
  • Contribute to legal issues and complex cases and help colleagues make the right choices
  • Identify areas for improvement in daily practice and contribute to improving processes and services
  • Actively share knowledge and experience with colleagues and contribute to a uniform working method within the team

What they ask

  • Experience with MS Office
  • Experience in guiding and coaching complex cases and legal issues, and representing the organization in this regard
  • Experience in performing checks and audits on BRP data and ensuring corrections
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations concerning BRP, Civil Registry, and preferably also elections
  • Experience in assessing source documents, legal issues, and fraud detection
  • Experience in guiding colleagues in drafting complex deeds and processing complicated mutations in the BRP

Preferences.

  • Possess 1 or more references
  • Recent work experience in a similar role
