As a guest lecturer, you contribute to increasing respect, self-reliance, and willingness to help among children and young people. This is done using educational material on topics such as earthquakes, floods, and extreme heat. You will be part of an educational team of a humanitarian organization.
What you will do.
- Give the "Wild World" guest lecture approximately 10 times a year to primary school children (groups 4 to 8) and sometimes at other locations.
- Deliver guest lectures of 60 to 75 minutes together with a fellow volunteer, varying from 2 or 3 lessons at a time.
- Ensure that children gain more insight and information about natural disasters and climate change.
- Teach children how to prepare for these and what a humanitarian organization does to help people in affected areas.
- Use the engaging, interactive educational material from the humanitarian organization and apply it in such a way that the children are captivated and actively participate in the lesson.
What they ask
- Experience working for/with primary school-aged children and/or speaking in front of a group.
- Good communication and social skills.
- Digitally skilled; online educational material is used in the lessons.
- Time available to give the guest lectures at least 10 times a year during school hours, averaging about 1 to 2 half-days per month.
- Willingness to travel to schools in the region.
