What you do
Tailored security, every day anew. The prisoners you work with are all different. Diverse backgrounds, cultures, and problems demand a flexible and decisive approach in every situation. You start your day early, ready to act decisively. You wake the detainees, open the doors, and accompany them to appointments or activities. With a keen eye for safety and attention to behavior and signals, you actively contribute to their reintegration. Furthermore, your work includes:
- monitoring the atmosphere in the department, being alert to tensions and disturbances of order
- conducting mentoring conversations with prisoners, in which you guide and support them in their personal trajectories
- checking the exercise yard and ensuring it is safe for use by prisoners
- performing urine controls, remaining vigilant for abnormalities and potential safety risks
- carrying out administrative tasks, such as booking visitor appointments and maintaining files
What they ask Maintaining your boundaries? You have no trouble with that. You like to make yourself heard and do not shy away from having a firm conversation. Thanks to your ability to relativize, you are not easily rattled by problems or challenges. You are also empathetic, allowing you to empathize well with the experiences of the prisoners. This helps you to sense their needs and feelings and to stimulate and motivate them in an appropriate manner. At the same time, you can also maintain professional distance.
- You have at least an MBO 4 diploma in Care & Welfare (Personal Supervisor Specific Target Groups or Social Pedagogical Worker)
- You have knowledge and work experience in supervision, guidance, care
- You are familiar with observation methods and are skilled in observing the behavior of (individual) persons
- You speak and write good Dutch (this is also necessary for drafting reports) and preferably have knowledge of other languages to communicate well (primarily) with non-Dutch speaking detainees
- You are able to adapt your behavioral style in case of problems or opportunities to achieve the set goal
Profile
Due to the special management regime, you also bring the following:
- A strongly structuring approach, with room for tailored care
- Intervention in case of transgressive behavior to ensure a safe living environment
- Clear and unambiguous agreements with detainees that are adhered to by every team member
- Sufficient contact with the detainee to build a good working relationship, with an eye for a good balance between distance and proximity, safety
Practical
- You work irregular hours, for which you receive a monthly allowance that can amount to up to €750 (gross) per month
- You receive a monthly allowance for working in the department, an amount of €351.05 (gross) per month based on a working week of 36 hours
