Trainer Kennel Manager

You play an important role as a dog trainer/kennel manager within a national organization. You work with colleagues, dog handlers, and their dogs for the surveillance of various locations. The dogs must be constantly trained and in top condition. You provide training for dog handlers and their animals and ensure good conditions in the kennel. This is a varied job involving daily planning, maintenance, care, and training of surveillance and intervention dog teams.

What you will do.

• Ensure that the kennel and the facilities, (training) materials, and transport equipment are in good condition and carry out (or arrange for) maintenance and repair work where necessary.
• Develop, adapt, and coordinate schedules and training programs.
• Handle necessary administration and reports, maintain training registrations and certifications.
• Monitor the health and well-being of the animals in the team.
• Order food and care products and arrange veterinary assistance.
• Train, support, evaluate, and test dog teams to ensure/improve their skills in collaboration and deployment.
• Support fellow trainers from an internal training organization during joint training sessions.
• Contribute to the development of educational materials and training programs for dog training and seek opportunities for innovation in this field.

• In addition to arranging and coordinating maintenance, you are also hands-on and perform regular maintenance and cleaning tasks when necessary.
• Driving license B (manual) and own transport for commuting.
• Flexible in working hours for evening training and weekend scouting of dogs for purchase.
• Minimum MBO 4 diploma, or completed a non-commissioned officer training with one of the armed forces components. Candidates with a demonstrable MBO level 3 diploma, and the willingness to obtain an MBO level 4 diploma within 2 years of appointment, are also invited to apply.
• Willingness to follow internal and external training to continue developing in the areas of training, dog handling and care, guarding, management, and security.
