- The Secretariat serves several member states and has offices in various locations.
- The Brussels Office supports member states in the management of a specific economic agreement and assists in preparing new legislation for integration into the agreement.
- The Internal Market Division is responsible for providing support and assistance to the member states in their work related to the agreement and their contribution to the development of relevant legislation.
- This vacancy is for two temporary policy officer positions for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of an additional temporary contract of maximum 12 months.
- The temporary policy officer positions entail taking responsibility for certain files within policy sectors, working independently on them, and helping out across the division as needed.
- The position requires a high degree of cooperation with other experts and may therefore involve assignments within various policy fields covered by the agreement.
What you do
- Preparation and facilitation of meetings of expert and working groups.
- Monitor policy developments of a major economic union and their relevance and impact for the member states.
- Day-to-day case handling as regards the incorporation of economic union acts into the agreement.
- Draft memos, notes and meeting reports; provide input to reports and briefings for working groups and subcommittees.
- Liaise with member states and economic union experts on specific files.
- Coordinate and contribute to drafting member states' comments and position papers.
- Give briefings both internally and to external stakeholders on developments of the agreement and the economic union.
What they ask
- University degree in international relations, political sciences, law, etc.
- Preferably, at least 2 years of relevant work experience, ideally in a national administration, social partner organisation or international organisation.
- Excellent ability to draft policy papers, agendas and reports concisely in English.
- Solid knowledge of the substance and functioning of the specific economic agreement and economic union policies and institutional structure.
- Agile use of standard office software and case handling systems.
- Working knowledge of at least one of the member states' languages.
