As a Lead Software Engineer, you are the linchpin in complex technical projects within wet infrastructure and industrial automation. You translate client issues into smart, future-proof, and maintainable solutions and lead a team of engineers. You will work on projects such as bridges, locks, pumping stations, storm surge barriers, drinking water pumping stations, and water treatment plants.
What you will do.
- Lead the entire engineering process: from preliminary research and concept to detailed engineering, realization, and commissioning.
- Design complex control systems according to applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage one or more engineers within projects.
- Monitor planning, budget, and quality, and report on these to project management.
- Prepare and coordinate engineering packages (basic & detail design).
- Use systems engineering for the design of electrical, industrial automation installations and systems according to the verification and validation steps of the V-model engineering.
- Evaluate engineering provided by third parties and perform cross-checks.
- Provide technical support for the purchasing and calculation process.
- Translate client needs into concrete solutions, also during the quotation phase.
- Ensure QA/QC and project documentation.
- Identify additional work and strive for efficient execution.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) at client locations.
What they ask
- HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing other engineers.
- Experience with industrial automation and PLC programming (IEC 61131-3).
- Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and Safety Control Systems is a plus.
- Experience with preparing machine safety files or willingness to learn this.
- Familiarity with Windows environments and industrial IT systems.
- Knowledge of industrial standards such as ISA88, JSTD-016, RWS-CSIR, RWS-LBS.
- Very good command of the Dutch language.
